August 11, 2003 Here's
EDDIE! Whatever caught the attention of the "Sisters" has become quite fascinating. "Eddie" watches and listens as well. Perhaps someone is playing a string game for them and telling stories. Alan and Suzanne have always worked closely together on the figurines, however "Eddie" was Suzanne's inspiration. While Alan has been busy working on a larger piece for this fall, Suzanne pushed ahead on "Eddie" for Summer. And with Alan's special touch, "Eddie"s face bears the distinct expression that marks him as one of the C. Alan Johnson "figurine family". "Sisters"! Something exciting has caught the attention of these two sisters. The older sister has seen it before. Even though she knows what is happening, she is still excited. April 15, 2003 Alan has been designing the Alaska Figurines for 45 years and his style has continued to evolve. Some of the figurine designs have been in the collection since the beginning and have also shown some evolution. "Friends" was the first design in the collection and it has seen a number of revisions down through the years. If you stood one made in 1958 next to one made today you would notice remarkable differences.
Now, in honor of its 45th year, "Friends" will be retired! On December 31st at midnight, "Friends" will join the archives of the Alaska Figurine Collection.
